This committee develops public position statements on legislative concerns affecting Sheboygan County businesses and establishes educational programming. The committee works to promote efficient and effective delivery of governmental services, reduce the level of taxation, create business awareness of impending legislative issues, and proactively set state and local business political agenda. Meets the second Friday of the month at 7:30am.

2008 Goals

  1. Continue hosting First Friday Forums:
    First Friday Forums will continue to have quarterly updates from the legislator
    Updates on certain legislative bills that impact business
    Calendar for first half of year:
        January – Economic Overview with David Ward
        February – Legislators Update
        March – Candidate Meet and Greet
        
    April – Objective Overview of City Administrator/Mayor Forms of Government
        May – Legislators Update
        June – Taxation Comparative Report

  2. Voting Score Card based on pre-identified issues formulated in conjunction with a member survey.  The issues can be city, county or state.  The scorecard will be published to our members.

  3. The Committee will host several candidate forums including:  Sheboygan Aldermanic races, Sheboygan County Supervisors, SASD Board, Wisconsin Legislative races, state appellate court justice, U S house of representatives, and extend invite to other county communities to assist if requested.

  4. Develop a Taxation Comparison Report for all taxing entities within the county, allowing for a breakdown of expenditure areas.  This should be covered for a minimum of a least the past five years. To be compared:  tax rate, mil rate, equalized property valuations.  The report will be meaningful if the comparisons are complete and detailed.
