This committee has been formed into two committees with sub-committees:

       Business Attraction
       Business Assistance

2008 Goals

  1. Continue to implement a comprehensive Business Retention and Expansion [BR&E] Program utilizing the Executive Pulse system.
        -Train the BR&E team personnel.
        -Make 100 to 150 retention team visits with completed visit reports.
        -Share the results and trends, as appropriate, with the participants.
        -Summarize the results with Chamber members and media.

  2. Continue to work with key government leaders, economic development professionals and business related leaders to define and implement a Business Attraction process.

  3. Develop and Train an A Team
       -Identify A Team members – a team of core business support advisors/mentors: financial, legal, marketing, human resources, IT specialists, etc., with representatives from SCORE, LTC and other partner organizations, as appropriate.
       -Consider processes and framework for a functional A-Team.
       -Implement and publicize A-Team purpose and availability.
       -Utilize the Wisconsin Entrepreneur Network [WEN] as appropriate.

  4.  Jointly Identify Training Programs with LTC, UW-S, Lakeland College and other business related educators.

  5.  Collaborate with the Data Research and Management Committee to gather and provide information to the businesses needing such information.
       -Available property/buildings inventory.
      -Review of other chamber and economic development organization websites.
       -Develop and provide a countywide benefits survey.

  6. Roundtables:
       -Continue development of the Operations Managers roundtable.
       -Investigate and develop small business roundtables.

  7. Develop a partnership with LTC to develop and launch an Inventors and Entrepreneurs Club to serve Sheboygan County.

  8. Continue the development and promotion of the Business Resource Center at the Chamber.

  • Data Resource & Management

2008 Goals

  1. Continue with the Wage Survey launched in 2007 with SAC-SHRM.

  2. Develop a countywide Benefits Survey with SAC-SHRM.

  3. Monitor the Economic Profile of Sheboygan County.

  4. Seek out meaningful data-related projects for other SCCC Committees and member businesses.

  5. Continue with input for ACCRA Survey.

  6. Develop and maintain a countywide WI-FI directory.

 

Action Planning:

By January 2008 establish and develop subcommittees to focus efforts on Retention, Expansion, Attraction

Develop and set forth committee and subcommittee task plans with metrics to accomplish goals for 2008.

Develop intra-Chamber communications to ensure coordinated action.

Effectively communicate and promote the business-related advantages of Sheboygan County.

Major Assignment Areas: 

Retention of EXISTING businesses

Expansion of EXISTING businesses and START-UP of new businesses

Attraction of NEW out-of-county businesses: relocation of headquarters, relocation of subsidiaries, and expansion of subsidiaries.
